Because I am an independent agent, I am not tied to one company. This allows me to provide you the coverage you need from a wide range of companies tailored to your family and budget.

Mortgage Protection policies are designed to provide customers with the security of knowing that if they pass away before their mortgage is paid, the policy can provide the funds needed to pay off the remaining mortgage.

They also have specific coverages built into them for critical, chronic and terminal illnesses. Referred to as accelerated benefits or sometimes “living benefits”, these provisions can provide funds to the policy owner if they suffer a heart attack, stroke, cancer or other major illness. These funds can be used to make mortgage payments or used for any other expense the policy owner chooses. The money comes to you!

Mortgage Protection policies are generally specialized term policies of up to 30 years but can also be permanent or whole
life polices.

Final Expense policies are generally permanent or whole life policies that provide coverage to help families cover the costs of funerals and settling their estates.

These policies commonly range from about $5,000 to $40,000 and can remain in effect until age 95 or beyond. The policies can accumulate cash values that can be withdrawn, borrowed, or used to pay premiums. Qualifications for these policies are also less stringent than term policies.

Some companies also issue what is know as Guaranteed Issue life policies. These policies are generally taken out by people with serious health conditions that disqualify them from other policies. They are available for persons age 40 to 80 with amounts generally ranging from $5,000 to $25,000. The company cannot deny issuing the policy but the policies normally have a 2 year waiting period before they will pay for a death that is not an accident. Death prior to the 2 year exclusionary period usually results in the return of all paid premiums plus an additional amount as outlined in the policy. Gerber for example returns 110% of the paid premium. After the second year the policy will pay the full face amount regardless of the cause of death.

Accidental Death policies cover ONLY deaths due to injuries sustained to the person. Death due to illness is generally excluded. A traffic accident, homicide, fall, industrial accident, or drowning are good examples. The death does not have to occur immediately. Most companies allow up to 90 days from the accident but some allow a full year.

Accidental Death and Dismemberment policies, known also as AD&D polices, may also cover specific serious injuries such as paralysis, the loss of a limb, hearing, speech or eyesight.

Issue ages for Accidental Death policies are generally 18 to 70 and they typically require no heath questions to qualify.
